She is playing in commercial and independent movies. All screen genres are immune to her. American actress, "Oscar" fourfold nominee, Berlin Movie Festival winner, Venice Movie Festival thrice price-holder.Julianne Moore was born on December 3, 1960 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the USA. Her mother was a psychiatrist, and her father was a military judge. Because of her father`s service specificity her family moved from place to place dozens of times. Julianne family changed their location 23 times before they finally found their place at Massachusetts. Julianne attended an American college in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), after graduating from which in 1979 she entered the School of Arts at Boston University.
Aristocratic appearance and natural ginger hair are giving away her British roots which have always been in a value in Hollywood. When she registered at Screen Actors Guild she had to change her name to Julianne. At the same time she changed her father’s last name into her grandfather surname and became Moore. After graduation Julianne moved to New York, where she worked as a waitress for a while before she appeared briefly in TV daytime serial "The Edge of Night". Fared well Julianne has got a role in a popular those times in the USA soap "As the World Turns" after which she received her first Emmy Award. Julianne made her entrance into the big screen in 1990 playing in “Tales from the Darkside” movie.

As a result, Moore was nominated for "Oscar" for a stunning performance of her role. The same year, on December 4 she bore her first child, which together with her husband Bart Freundlich she named Cal. After a short break in the movie starring, which was associated with birth and baby care, Moore returned back to the cinema getting this time a role in Coen brothers movie “The Big Lebowski” and after which performing in a global project - a remake of the 1960 film "Psycho". 1999 was the most intense with roles in Moore career when she had a chance to work with many famous directors. Beside her Nicolas Cage starred in the same movie. 2010 began with two dramas - "Chloe" which tells us a story about relations of a married woman and a young girl named Chloe. In March Moore appeared opposite Colin Firth in the well-received American drama "A Single Man", where she played a role of the hero’s best friend. 
The actress was twice married: first to John Gould Rubin (1986-1995), and then to director Bart Freundlich (a couple living together since 1996; official marriage was registered in August 2003). Moore and Freundlich have two children: son named Caleb (born on December 4, 1997) and daughter Liv Helen (born on April 11, 2002).
