The Fisker Karma -- a bold expression of uncompromised responsible luxury.

Design

The elegant lines of windswept sand dunes and the muscular grace of a cheetah inspired the design of the Fisker Karma. The design team's inspiration were also led by the understanding of the principles of order, and the harmony of opposing structures, textures and elements.

Interior Materials

The components that form the Karma's interior are as unique as they are essential to continuing Fisker's sustainable and accountable design philosophy. Every Karma produced reflects Fisker's dedication to the use of reclaimed, recycled and reusable materials: Wood trim is sourced from reclaimed lumber, seating foam is fashioned from soy-based bio fiber and the carpet backing is created from recycled post-consumer materials.

The Karma EcoStandard features an interior environment that's tinted a rich shade of black (Black Onyx Monotone) and emulates pure grain leather. The EcoSport's leather comes from the world's first closed-loop leather manufacturing plant. Not only is the leather sourced from farms that abide by theFive Freedoms of Humane Animal Treatment, approximately 85% of the entire hide is used (more than double the amount used by traditional automakers). The Karma EcoChic is the most advanced sustainable trim package available. It features 100% post-industry virgin textile Premium EcoSuede to surround occupants in a lush and sustainable driving environment.

22" Wheels

The Fisker Karma is the first production vehicle to feature 22" Circuit Blade wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires as standard equipment. The wheels are powder-coated to provide an enduring finish and limit harmful VOC emissions in the manufacturing process. The Karma also comes standard with a race-inspired braking system -- featuring large rotors and Brembo™ Monobloc calipers that incorporates regenerative braking in order to capture kinetic energy during deceleration.

Command Center

A simple touch screen interface was designed to manage the premium audio, navigation, iPod™, Bluetooth™ and climate control systems. To reflect Fisker's signature design detail, a chrome bezel surrounds the flat screen glass surface – perfectly complementing the jewel-like quality of the instrument gauge cluster.

Solar Roof

Featuring the largest solar glass roof ever designed for a production vehicle, the Fisker Karma harnesses energy from the sun to extend the driving range for up to an additional 200 miles/322 km annually. Custom designed to be a wonder of both art and engineering, the roof visually conveys the Karma's advanced technology and environmental purpose.

Reclaimed Wood

The Karma's uniquely refined interior wood trim is 100% sustainably sourced from Fallen, Sunken and Rescued Wood™ to ensure that no live growth is ever used. Fallen Wood™ comes from fallen trees in the western United States. Sunken Wood™ has a white oak finish with a beautiful patina, created naturally after resting at the bottom of Lake Michigan for over 300 years. Rescued Wood™ is recovered from trees from wildfires in California.

Lightning

Every Karma comes standard with Bi-Xenon headlamps and low energy LED lamps throughout the vehicle. The Karma also uses low-voltage LED exterior lighting, including the car's reverse, rear fog and side marker lights to conserve power wherever possible

Technology

Karma drivers reap the benefits of technology, from the patented Ever™ powertrain and state-of-the-art regenerative braking system, to the intuitive touch-screen command center and world’s largest ever solar roof in a production vehicle.

Diamond Dust Paint

Diamond Dust™ paint is the first water-based paint to feature a recycled glass flake mixture that utilizes 35-55% recycled glass while releasing zero volatile organic compounds into the environment. The paint also features an invisible reflective infrared layer to help cool the interior during hot weather.

EVer

The Fisker patented EVer™ technology uses an electric generator and battery pack to power the dual electric motors to drive the wheels, giving the Karma a range of up to 50 miles of electric driving. After 50 miles, the internal combustion gasoline engine engages to support the electric motors for an additional range of 250 miles. (Note: the plug-in hybrid is never run by the engine. The engine provides the energy to run the electric motors).

Charging Stations

The Karma comes with a standard 110V convenience charger. The optional 220/240v high-voltage charging station significantly reduces the Karma’s charging time and can be easily installed in homes with standard electrical service.

Charge Times

6-14 hours. Varies with battery's remaining charge capacity and whether 110v, 220v or 240v current is used.

Battery

The Karma uses a state-of-the-art Nanophosphate Lithium-ion Battery pack for an added degree of safety, performance and environmental care when compared to other metal oxide battery designs. This advanced technology enables an ultra-wide State of Charge (SoC) operating window and provides a lifecycle of 10 years or 100,000 miles (160,000km) under normal use.

Fisker designers chose to simplify the car’s dashboard controls by providing a single place to control multiple features. The Karma's dashboard contains just four buttons: EVer™ Power (start/stop), Central Locking, Hazard Lights and Electric Glove Box Release. The 10.2" touch screen for the Command Center provides a seamless experience that reflects Fisker's attention to detail and application of technology.

Task-specific icons control the climate systems, stereo, iPod™, Bluetooth™ phone compatibility and navigation systems without the complex toggles and switches found in other luxury vehicles. Additionally, the screen functions as a rear view camera display and information hub for the roof’s solar energy power.

Regenerative Braking

The Karma's regenerative braking system is engaged by using the Hill paddle (located behind the steering wheel) in varying amounts. This captures kinetic energy during deceleration and feeds it back into the battery – allowing the driver more control of the vehicle's driving experience and range.

Performance

Finally, sustainable design without compromise. Introducing the Fisker Karma, the first true electric luxury vehicle with extended range and the freedom to plug in or fill up. With the ability to toggle between the all-electric Stealth Mode or fuel assistedSport Mode with the simple shift of the paddle, the Karma delivers high impact performance while maintaining a low impact on the environment. The Fisker Karma -- a bold expression of uncompromised responsible luxury.

Braking System

The Karma's braking system is comprised of Brembo® Monobloc calipers (6-piston front, 4-piston rear) with massive, directionally ventilated rotors and a sophisticated antilock braking system. The system is configured to provide Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control and a Panic Brake Assist (PBA) to maximize the friction brake system's capabilities for the shortest stopping distance possible.

Powerplant

At Fisker Automotive, we strive to create environmentally conscious vehicles with passion, style and performance. It all starts with 959 lb/ft (1300 Newton/meters) of torque, instantly available at 0 RPM. In Sport Mode, the Karma's EVer™ power management system utilizes the lithium-ion battery system in conjunction with the 2.0 liter 260 HP 4-cylinder direct injection motor (which is connected to a 175kW generator) to accelerate the Karma from 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph (200 km/h).

Wheels and suspension

The Fisker Karma combines suspension engineering, innovative packaging and lightweight materials to create a low center of gravity and provide superior performance handling. Large 22" wheels wrapped in Goodyear® F1 Supercar tires (255/35R22 front, 285/35RR rear) are essential to the vehicle's presence, and come standard with every Karma. A 21-inch winter tire and wheel package compatible with chains is also available as an optional accessory.

Safety

The Karma's Spaceframe is built with front-end collision reinforcements to work in line with energy-absorbing materials placed at major collision points around the vehicle. Drivers and passengers are further protected by a total of eight airbags: a front dual advanced system with knee, side curtain and seat side airbags. The Karma's premier braking system was developed exclusively by the elite brake specialists at Brembo S.P.A. and delivers unparalleled braking performance to provide the shortest stopping distance possible.

8 aribags and more

The Karma's cabin comes standard with 8 airbags: a front dual advanced restraint system with knee, full-length side curtain and seat side airbags. In the event of an impact, the Karma's onboard systems trigger several safety response actions, such as shutting down the high voltage battery and fuel pump systems, automatically unlocking the doors, and turning on the interior and hazard lights.

Sapece frame

The Karma's Spaceframe is a rigid structure comprised of interlocking struts formed in a geometric pattern with energy-absorbing aluminum beams in the front, rear and sides of the vehicle. Serving as the foundation of occupant safety, the passenger "Safety cage" was designed to minimize intrusion and remain intact in the event of a collision, allowing the Karma to exceed global-crash protection standards.
